Disclaimer: Katekyo Hitman Reborn and its characters do not belong to me.
Yamamoto thought that things would change once they have become a couple.
The day after their ‘confessions’ (haha, he feels like a girl), he tried to hold Gokudera’s hand. Not only was he rewarded with empty air, but if not for his great reflex, he would have gotten a nasty cigarette burn.
Okay, so maybe it was a little too soon.
Some days later, on their way home from Tsuna’s, he discretely reached for Gokudera’s hand again. This only resulted in a vicious hiss from the other boy and a very hard knee in his gut.
So... maybe that wasn’t such a good idea after all.
Two weeks into their relationship, he thought it was high time for their first kiss (call it a celebration, for his success in holding Gokudera's hand...after a hundred and eight failures). Gokudera, on the other hand, obviously did not share his opinion, if the grey smoke still drifting from his crumbling room says anything.
Even with Yamamoto’s optimistic personality, he couldn’t ignore the stab of disappointment. Sure, being together was good, but he also wanted to be able to display his affections for the Italian boy as well as make some advances in their relationship. However, with all his attempts turned down…
He let out a sigh, and closed his eyes. Yamamoto was the only one laying lazily on the roof. Class had already started, but he didn’t care. It wasn’t like he could learn anything in his current condition.
There was a quite creak as the door to the roof was opened and closed again, as quietly as before. Yamamoto ignored it, choosing to pretend to be asleep, hoping that whoever will get the message and leave him alone. He just wanted to have a short nap before facing the cause of his self-pitying again. Surely he had the right to sulk with the treatment he was getting from his boyfriend.
To say that he panicked when he felt a soft pressure of lips upon his forehead was an understatement. The shock froze him to the point of perfecting his sleeping façade. Who the hell?!
“Dumb ass.”
He would recognise that voice anywhere. It washed away his fear and he had to use all of his will power to suppress a smile. If he though he felt a smile on those lips earlier, he was damn sure now.
It seemed that things did change after all.
He felt a body settled beside him and soon after, a hand found its way to his head, gently stroking his hair.
So yeah, what if his boyfriend acts a little cold sometimes? He should have expected it. This was Gokudera after all. It was a miracle in itself that he managed to successfully ask him out, he shouldn’t have expected the immediate 180 turn. He knew better than anyone how shy Gokudera can be.
Yamamoto couldn’t hold back the smile anymore, and if Gokudera noticed he didn’t say anything.
Of course it would take a long time and a lot of work to make Gokudera feel comfortable. But he could deal with that; Yamamoto wouldn’t be himself if he wasn’t determined.
Tomorrow, he will try again. For now he would just concentrate on those gentle fingers, lulling him to sleep.
Their relationship was still young.
